Work Through

I am going to walk you through a basic editing job. I will be using layers for the different images I put into my image.

In the method I use it is best to start with the foreground and work back so here is my foreground now let's take a jump in the deep end, and get started

I will be starting with the flower in this photo for two reasons 1. I do not like working with people and 2. It stands out from the back ground making it easier to select.

First cut around your object with a selection tool of your choice, I will be using the Free hand selection tool, however depending on what your object is it may be faster using one of the other selection tools.
Just select the object and press Ctrl + C to copy, if you are putting it in to another photo then open up that photo and past it in to that by pressing Ctrl + V. Or you could do it my way and just drag and drop the medground photo into the photos window, and then for some reason I am yet to find out you must copy and paste it back into the image before you can delete part of it, or it will go white and not be transpint.

For the medground I am using this photo I know you will not find this flower in the snow but I will not let that stop me.
The blue sky is easy to delete, just use a selection like the fuzzy select tool and click on the sky check to be sure none of the hill is selected.
'GIMP window of me selecting.

This is what my foreground and medground look like together, Needless to say the Flower looks a bit big.

Now would be the time to use the transform tools in this screen shot (photo 2-5) I have used the scale tool to decrease the size of the flower then I used the Rotate tool to rotate it.

I confess it does not look that great yet but I have not made colour changes yet and I do not have a back ground.

Here you go we now have a background, medground and a foreground. There is still some work to be done like making it look close to normal by adding a few more objects to stop the photos from floating and to make the colours work.
